I’d be willing to bet money that Jeep is the brand probably tops the list of most special editions ever produced by any automaker. Its made everything from Call of Duty editions to vehicle that just celebrate America’s freedom. Jeep’s latest special editions look like something straight out of the 1990s.
Jeep introduced a pair of special edition models on Thursday to celebrate its annual Jeep Beach meetup in Daytona Beach, Florida. Called the Jeep Beach — of course —the pair are based on the Wrangler 4xe Willys and the Gladiator Willys.
Aside from a spray-in bed-liner on the Gladiator, both it and the Wrangler Beach are identically equipped. There’s ’90s looking Jeep Beach decals on the sides of the hood as well as beach-themed color trim on the side fenders, LED headlights and fog lights and a body color hardtop with Jeep’s Sunrider fliptop. Jeep says both models can be had in any color currently available on the Wrangler and Gladiator. So be prepared to see some wild color setups, like a highlighter yellow — I don’t care if Jeep calls it High Velocity Clear Coat— with the Beach package.
Inside, there are Mopar Katzkin leather seats with “Jeep Beach” embroidery, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a suite of driver safety aids. And don’t worry, the Jeep Beach models aren’t just street poser specials. Both the Wrangler Beach 4xe and Gladiator Beach come with 33-inch all-terrain tires, steel rock rails, an Off-Road+ mode, trailer tow and programmable aux switches and a rear locking differential.
Of course, just like much of Jeep’s line up these days, none of this comes cheap. Including $1,895 for destination, the Wrangler 4xe Beach will set you back $62,290 and $52,390 for the Gladiator Beach. It’s not that bad though, but only if you approach the prices from the point of view the models are based on. This means Jeep is charging just $4,960 more for the Wrangler Beach over the Wrangler Willys and $4,060 for the Gladiator Beach over the Gladiator Willys. If you want one you’re going to have to act quick though. Jeep is limiting the Beach to just 500 units split between 250 of each model. And they’ll only be available to order starting this month in select southeastern states.
