Mini Cooper fans rejoice! A few months after unveiling the fourth-generation Mini Hardtop in fully electric guise, the brand has debuted the gas-powered versions for the 2025 model year. It’s a bittersweet reveal, as these will be the final gas-powered Minis (alongside the new Countryman) as the brand transitions to fully electric powertrains.

While global Cooper models will get a choice of three- or four-cylinder engines, U.S. buyers get one engine with two power levels: both the Cooper and the Cooper S are powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4. The S is more powerful, with 201 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, which is enough to get the Cooper S to 60 in 6.3 seconds. The standard Cooper’s power and specs will be revealed closer to its on-sale date, but it’ll be known as the Cooper C.

At first glance the exterior looks nearly identical to the electric model, but really it’s a heavy refresh of the existing third-gen Cooper — the gas-powered Coopers still have a clamshell hood, different front fenders, traditional door handles and black plastic fender flares, plus small details like the rear fender surfacing and window glazing are slightly different. There’s a new octagonal grille up front with an integrated radar sensor, one of 12 in the Mini’s front fascia for driver-assistance features. The horizontal LED DRLs have three distinct lighting patterns drivers can choose from, and out back there are cool matrix LED taillights.

Inside, the interior has a minimalist design with lots of new materials, but it’s not quite as brand new as the EV — the door panels and dashboard have different designs as the hard points from the old car have been retained. The centerpiece of the interior is a massive, round 9.4-inch OLED display that at first glance kinda looks like a fish tank set in the middle of the dash. The touchscreen is thin and runs Mini’s Operating System 9. Other interior features keep with the minimalist design theme, like actual buttons for the climate controls, a wireless charger and a pano roof. And if you find yourself in need of carrying some stuff, there’s 8.9 cubic feet of cargo space that grows to 34.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

The new Cooper is set to go on sale in the U.S. this summer with a starting price of $29,945 (including destination) for the Cooper and $33,195 for the Cooper S.
