There are some pretty incredible automakers out there responsible for some pretty special cars. Ferrari has a long lineage of wonderful machines, as do less expensive brands like Alpine and even humble Honda has made some great cars. But is there an automaker with a stellar hit rate that’s also had its fair share of misses?
That’s what we’re on the lookout for today, as we ask you for your picks for the worst car from a truly great automaker. So, what have you got?
There are some pretty good picks out there. For example, you might have the (wholly incorrect) view that the Cygnet is the worst Aston Martin ever sold, or you might believe that, instead, this award should be handed to the automotive misstep that is the Dodge Nitro. Whatever car you think is the worst vehicle from a great automaker, we want to hear about it.
Personally, I’d submit the Alfa Romeo Arna. This hunk of 1980s junk was everything an Alfa Romeo shouldn’t be: it was slow, ugly and jointly developed with the help of Nissan. It didn’t have much Italian flair, didn’t come with any notable styling updates over its Nissan counterpart (the fourth-generation Cherry Europe) and didn’t even achieve the mission it set out to do: take the fight to the VW Golf. So it was a boring car that wasn’t even very good at it’s one job: how un-Alfa.
But that’s just my suggestion, what car would you put forward as the worst vehicle from an otherwise great automaker? Head to the comments section below to let us know your picks and we’ll round up some of the best suggestions in a slideshow next week.
