It’s almost March, and that means it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to enjoy the warmer months. Not only do you have brunching with the boys to look forward to, but you’ve probably also got camping trips and beach vacations showing off that smokin’ hot summer bod you’ve worked on building all winter on the agenda. Most importantly, though, it will soon be convertible season. And what better way to spend that time than behind the wheel of an ultra-rare Honda CRX Si Straman convertible?

As those who are familiar know, Honda never sold a convertible version of the beloved CRX. Still, as a sporty, affordable hatchback, it was hard to fault Honda for not giving us a convertible, too. Sure, it didn’t quite make 100 hp or 100 lb-ft of torque, but it also weighed less than 2,000 pounds. Paired with a manual transmission, it was the very definition of “slow car fast.” However, Straman decided to do what Honda wouldn’t and started cutting the tops off CRXs.

As you can imagine, the market for a CRX, even a CRX Si, with a convertible conversion wasn’t exactly huge, and in the end, Straman only built about 300 CRX Si convertibles. While that makes them incredibly rare, we have great news! There’s a 1986 Honda CRX Si Straman that’s currently for sale on Cars & Bids. At the time of writing, it’s still pretty cheap, but with six days left on the auction, there’s no telling how much this rare hatchless hatch will go for. At the same time, how many more opportunities are you going to get in life to buy such a rare car?

Just imagine yourself cruising down a winding country road, top down in your ‘80s Honda convertible. Others may own cars with more features such as airbags and GPS navigation, but are they actually going to be as happy as you are behind the wheel of your ‘86 CRX Si Straman? Absolutely not.
