Customers of Yarra Valley Water are officially tasting the best tap water in Victoria after the corporation was awarded the sought-after title this week.
Samples of water from around the state were tested at the IXOM Best Tasting Tap Water in Victoria competition held on Wednesday in Bendigo.
Yarra Valley Water came out on top after water from its Plantes Hill Reservoir in Lilydale was sampled by judges.

The water was assessed on its colour, clarity, odour and taste.
It is originally sourced from Melbourne Water Silvan Reservoir and then treated in Lilydale.
Two million people in Victoria get to drink Yarra Valley Water, which supplies to residents from Wallan in the state’s north to Warburton in the east.
Yarra Valley Water managing director Pat McCafferty said he was delighted at the news that it was delivering the best tap water in Victoria to its customers.
“It just goes to show that you don’t need to spend money on bottled water when you can get world-class water,” he said.
“Melbourne is one of few cities in the world to get tap water from protected catchments.
“We treat the water to ensure that it’s of the highest quality, and we’re very fortunate that it needs little treatment because water sources are pristine.”
Yarra Valley Water will now get to present its prized liquid on the national stage in November at the National Championships in Tasmania.
The winner of that competition will represent Australia at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition in West Virginia, United States.
