Mum makes mortifying invitation mistake – inviting entire contact list to her child’s birthday party

Imagine mistakenly inviting your entire contact list to your child’s first birthday party.

Sound mortifying? It’s exactly what one American mum did, announcing her error in a now-viral video.

The mum, named Em, explained she had just made an e-invitation for her daughter’s first birthday party.

She said the e-invite had an option to “import contacts”, and she thought selecting that option would then allow her to choose specific contacts.

Instead, it imported all 487 of her contacts — effectively inviting them all to her daughter’s birthday party.

“Not only did I invite my boss, all of my co-workers, all of the people that had ever been stored in my phone, but it sent invitations based off how they are stored in my phone,” a horrified Em said.

“I want you to just take a second to think about everyone stored in your phone and how they’re stored in your phone.”

The mum then gave examples: “Imagine receiving an invitation with your name and an eyeroll next to it, or ‘Jess — hit her car in the parking lot’.”

She finished her amusing video by saying: “I need to quit or get a new identity.”

Em’s video has had more than 12 million views, with regular punters expressing their own hilarious brand of empathy.

“This should qualify you for witness protection,” said one.

“I think e-invite owes you compensation,” wrote another.

“Getting secondhand emotional distress,” added a third.
