Zack Norman, actor in Cadillac Man and Romancing the Stone, dies aged 83

Hollywood actor Zack Norman, best known for his roles in Cadillac Man and Romancing the Stone, has died aged 83.

The news was confirmed to Deadline by Norman’s son-in-law Jeff Briller, who said Norman died on April 28 of natural causes.

Born Howard Jerrold Zuker, Norman was born in Boston in 1940.

He began his entertainment career by performing stand-up comedy in the 60s, making his television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1969.

His first big Hollywood role was starring alongside Michael Douglas, Danny DeVito and Kathleen Turner in Robert Zemeckis’ Romancing the Stone (1984).

Norman would then go on to co-direct and star in the comedy Chief Zabu (1988), before appearing in Cadillac Man (1990) with Robin Williams and Tim Robbins.

During a short stint on the TV show The Nanny, Norman played Uncle Jack in three episodes between 1993 and 1995.

His last role was in a short film called Weekend Retreat in 2020.

Fans paid tribute to the actor on social media, with one person describing his role in Cadillac Man as “iconic”.

“Romancing the Stone is such a classic. RIP Zack,” another said.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Norman is survived by his wife Nancy, four children and 14 grandchildren.
