A woman has been seriously injured when she was hit by a police car responding to a call for help.
The woman was rushed from the scene in South Kempsey to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital, more than 250km away, following the incident about 2.20am on Friday.
Police did not detail her injuries but said they were not life-threatening.

The 39-year-old was in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Senior police are expected to provide further details on Friday.
A critical incident team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, with that investigation subject to an independent review.
The male officer driving the sedan returned a negative roadside breath test.
