Woman and child in critical conditions after crashing into parked truck in St Marys, Sydney

A woman and a child are in a critical condition after the car they were in crashed into a parked truck in Western Sydney.

The crash happened on Christie St in St Marys about 3.15am on Friday.

Emergency crews worked to free the woman and an eight-year-old child who were trapped inside the car.

The boy was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.

The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was also treated at the scene and then taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

“Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the cause of the crash,” police said.

Christie St was closed in both directions between Lee Holme Dr and Werrington Rd.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area
