What we know so far about The Tortured Poets Department

Swift was accepting an award at this year’s Grammys when she dropped the news that she was releasing a new album.

There is much speculation the album’s lyrics will be inspired by her breakup with her former partner, actor Joe Alwyn.

We already know what the cover looks like — it’s a moody black and white shot of Tay-Tay lying on a bed.

And Swift has also dropped some of the new lyrics featured on the album.

Swift’s 11th album will feature 16 songs plus a bonus track called The Manuscript.

The other song titles are:

  • Fortnight
  • The Tortured Poets Department
  • My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys
  • Down Bad
  • So Long, London
  • But Daddy I Love Him
  • Fresh Out the Slammer
  • Florida
  • Guilty as Sin
  • Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me
  • I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
  • loml
  • I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
  • The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
  • The Alchemy
  • Clara Bow

When announcing the album, Swift said she had been working on the songs for about two years.

“I kept working on it throughout the US tour, and when it was perfect — in my opinion when it’s good enough for you — I finished it and I am so, so excited that soon you’ll get to hear it,” she told an audience in Japan.

The album comes after the mammoth success of Midnights, which was released in October 2022.

One of the first people to hear the new album was Swift’s current boyfriend, American NFL player Travis Kelce.

During a press event in Las Vegas, he said he had heard “some of it” and described what he’d heard as “unbelievable”.

“I can’t wait for her to shake up the world when it finally drops,” he said.

The album will be available on CD or in a digital version on Swift’s website.
