An American driver has shared the little joys they look for while out on the road in a new compilation video, and it might not be quite what you expect. In a video shared on Twitter X they don’t share their favorite fast food stops or the prettiest bridges they drive over, instead it’s their love for an American railway operator that could warm even the coldest heart.
In a clip posted online by @BreeganDumb, the driver shows their love for freight operator CSX Transportation through a wonderful compilation of honk exchanges. Every time the driver passes a CSX train while they’re traversing America’s highways, they toot their horn in the “shave-and-a-hair-cut” style and wait expectantly for a “two-bits” response from the train.
The return honks are met with excited squeaks, screams and yelps from the driver, who clearly loves having a horn-based chat with every train they pass in America.
Things get even more heartwarming when you learn that this isn’t the first time @BreeganDumb has gone in search of train horns. On their YouTube channel, there are even more clips of trains tooting their horn as they pass by. Each one accompanied by the same excitable outburst from the driver.
While most of America only thinks of trains as being slow, dirty and responsible for all kinds of transport disasters, this just goes to show that there’s still some fun to be had with America’s rail network.
If this isn’t quite enough train horn content for your Monday, why not head here to see how a Miata’s train horn sound saved its drivers life, or watch this deep-dive into why train horns sound much further away than they actually are.
