Of the 11 staff she asked, the most common answer was German Shepherds — although the vet workers weren’t asked why.

In the now-viral American video, with more than 12.6 million views, six of the employees confessed they were most frightened by German Shepherds.

“German Shepherds unfortunately,” one staff member said.

Three employees named Chihuahuas as their least favourite breed, while others revealed they were not fans of Boxers or Boston Terriers.

Many were divided over the responses, with some agreeing with the vets when it came to German Shepherds.

“Ten years in the vet industry, I agree, German Shepherds,” said one.

“Vet tech here, 100 per cent German Shepherds,” added another.

A third said: “With 30 years working with dogs professionally, German Shepherds, agreed.”

But many were surprised, and wanted to know why Shepherds were vets’ least-favoured breed of dog.

“Now tell us why German Shepherds,” one person asked.

“Mine was the smartest sweetest dog ever,” insisted another.

“What? Why German Shepherds? That’s shocking,” said a third.

But the dog, initially bred in the late 1800s as a herding dog, is not the only ‘maligned’ breed.

In 2022, a team of vets revealed the one breed they would never own as pets.

Staff at the Alta Vista Animal Hospital in the US were asked to spill on their least favourite variety — with everyone confessing they would never own a Shar Pei.

The clip shows the woman going around the clinic asking four staff: “What breed of dog would you not own after working in the vet clinic?”

Much to her surprise, everyone took particular issue with Shar Pei, a short-nosed, or brachycephalic, breed.

“Many Shar Peis have multiple health issues, which can be worse here (at the vet clinic). They are also not always accommodating when we try and help them,” the employee said.

The video has been liked more than 70,000 times – with many agreeing with the workers.

“I work at a vet clinic and I agree, Shar Peis have really bad temper (sic),” one said.
