BBQ sauce is undoubtedly an Aussie favourite.
Most of us love it on a sausage sizzle, in a breakfast burger or on top of a meat pie.
And while you know it’s sugary, you may not know just high in sugar it is.

Jordyn Evans, the Aussie founder of all-natural seasoning company, Mingle, recently shared in a now-viral video just how much sugar is in BBQ sauce.
Jordyn discovered that just 45 grams (or an average serving size of BBQ sauce) is equivalent to the sugar in 180mL of Coca-Cola.
It’s also the equivalent of more than three servings of Biscoff, a bowl of fruit loops, two and a half Tim Tams and a whopping six scotch fingers.
“We were shocked to find out that this 45g amount of BBQ sauce (which we think is the normal amount to put on your sausage roll) is equivalent to the sugar in a decent quantity of these mainstream sugary products!” Jordyn posted on her video.
And it wasn’t long before close to one million people were left in utter disbelief in the comments.
“But BBQ sauce is life,” said one.
“This hurts my feelings,” said a second.
“I’m so shocked, thanks for sharing and I’d love to see other comparisons,” said a third.
“Omg that scares me,” added another.
“Hearing this, hurts my soul,” joked one.
Jordyn started Mingle in 2016 and all of Mingle products are plant-based, Australian-made and contain all-natural ingredients.
