Teenager dies in hospital after car and B-double collide in Tenterfield

A teenager has died in hospital days after being critically injured in a truck crash in regional NSW.

The 17-year-old was driving a Holden Barina when it collided with a B-Double truck and rolled at the intersection of the New England Highway and Old Ballandean Rd in Tenterfield on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called about 1.40pm and treated the boy before he was taken to Tenterfield Hospital in a critical condition.

He was then flown to Gold Coast University Hospital where he died on Friday.

“The 17-year-old died in hospital on yesterday afternoon,” police said.

The driver of the truck, a 63-year-old man, was not injured and was taken to Tenterfield Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police are investigating and will prepare a report for the coroner.
