Teenager charged over alleged stabbing outside NSW shopping centre

A teenage boy has been charged over an alleged stabbing outside a shopping centre on the NSW Central Coast.

About 2.30pm on Monday, police were called to a bus stop outside shops on Bay Village Rd at Bateau Bay, after reports of an assault.

A 20-year-old man was waiting at the bus stop when he was approached by three males, police said.

A verbal alteration ensued before the man was allegedly assaulted and stabbed in the back.

The trio then fled the scene.

The 20-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics before he was taken to hospital.

He is believed to be in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established.

A 15-year-old boy was later arrested at Toukley Police Station about 4.30pm on Monday.

He was charged with affray, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday.

Investigations are ongoing.
