Teacher hurt in knife incident at Sydney school

A Western Sydney school has gone into lockdown when a student arrived on campus allegedly armed with a knife.

Chifley College Dunheved in North St Marys went into lockdown about 1.20pm on Thursday when the student allegedly produced the knife.

It is understood a teacher suffered minor injuries.

NSW Ambulance said they were called to the scene about 1.30pm but no patients required transport to hospital.

“A staff member sustained a small laceration while reportedly trying to confiscate the knife, prior to police arrival,” NSW Police said.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the staff member and have taken the child/teen to hospital for assessment.”

No students are believed to have been injured.
