Struggling mum stunned by Woolworths worker’s unbelievable checkout act

A struggling mum has shared her very unexpected experience with a Woolworths worker while attempting to leave her local store.

Sharing on X, the shopper said she had just finished purchasing groceries at Woolworths Virginia in Adelaide when her young son became irritable.

As she struggled to work out how to get her “grumpy” son back to the car — along with her bags of groceries — she said she was approached by a Woolworths employee with a surprising offer.

While some supermarkets come under fire for cutting costs and reducing staff in the checkout, this Woolies team member made a point of offering some good old-fashioned service to the mum in need.

“A nice story for today,” the shopper said in her X post.

“I was at the shops and bought more than a couple of bags full and had kiddo in the stroller.

“Intended to put him in the trolley but he was grumpy. Had my hands full.

“Lady at Woolworths offered to get one of the staff to help me carry bags to my car.”

The customer went on to say that while chatting to the Woolworths worker who was assisting her to the carpark, she learned this wasn’t an isolated act of kindness.

“On the way out I chatted with the young lady helping me and she said it was the third time today she helped people to their car today with their groceries,” the shopper added.

A Woolworths representative told the shopper they were pleased to hear of the positive experience.

“We’re delighted to hear about the kindness shown by our Team Members at Virginia,” the representative said.

“We’ve shared this with our Management team as we know they’ll love to hear this!“
