Stars and fans of crime drama NCIS: Hawaii have reacted with shock to the news the show has wrapped after only three seasons.
The CBS network has cancelled the show, which is part of the NCIS franchise and which kicked off in 2021.
It has not given a reason but it is understood financial constraints may be to blame.

Actors including the show’s star, Vanessa Lachey, as well as real-life couple Seana Kofoed and Jason Antoon, expressed their shock and confusion over the axing, while also thanking the show’s crew, writers and fans.
Fans have begun petitioning CBS, with the caption #SaveNCISHawaii, calling for the network to keep producing the show — which they have praised for addressing themes such as PTSD and trauma.
Kofoed, who had the role of Commander Carla Chase, posted jointly on Instagram on Tuesday with Antoon, who played tech wizard Ernie Malik.

She thanked fans before saying: “We continue to believe in the power of creating great entertainment while representing the world in which we live.
“To the incredible Hawaii crew, our truly one-of-kind leader, Vanessa Lachey, this gift of a cast, and to the fiercely fabulous #ncishawaiiohana online, Mahalo nui loa,” (which is Hawaiian for Thank you very much).
The couple also shared the heartbreak of the cast and crew over the news.
“While the cast is, of course, heartbroken … we’re incredibly grateful to our amazing showrunners … and all the NCIS: Hawaii writers … for telling great, entertaining stories while representing the diverse and wonderful world in which we live,” Kofoed told Parade.
Lachey, who starred as Jane Tennant, reacted on Instagram, saying she was “blindsided” over the decision.
“Gutted, confused, blindsided,” Lachey said.
“Processing this news and still being present with my family. I love you all! Mahalo Nui Loa.”
Fans, too, are in disbelief — with some rallying to try to save the show.
“I’m so sorry the show has been discontinued. It was an awesome show with great storylines, writing and great actors. You will be very much missed,” one Instagram commenter said.
“You guys were a great ensemble and I hate to see you all split up. Hang in there you never know what will happen next,” a second said.
A third wrote: “Still struggling to make sense of their decision. Best wishes to everyone who worked so hard on this show that we adore.”
Fans have started a change.org #SaveNCISHawaii petition, which has more than 18,900 signatures.
“The show has broken barriers by portraying women in leading roles, inspiring countless girls and women to see themselves as leaders,” the petition reads.
“The two lesbian characters have helped many viewers come to terms with their sexuality, providing much-needed representation on mainstream television.
“Furthermore, storylines dealing with PTSD and trauma have offered solace to those grappling with similar issues in their own lives.”
The petition said NCIS: Hawaii also had brought together a diverse fandom community and breathed new life into an already beloved franchise by attracting a wider audience.
“We urge CBS to continue producing NCIS: Hawaii for multiple more seasons or at least provide us with a full Season 4 to bid farewell properly to these beloved characters who have become part of our lives over the years.”
