SpaceX launches mission to International Space Station from Florida

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — SpaceX is expected to launch its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida later today.

The spacecraft is heading to the International Space Station for the Dragon’s 30th Commercial Resupply Services (CRS-30) mission, according to SpaceX.

The company said it’s aiming for a 4:55 p.m. launch, with a backup launch time at 4:22 p.m. tomorrow, March 22, if needed.

This will be the Falcon 9 booster’s sixth flight, having previously launched Ax-2, the ESA Euclid telescope, Ax-3, and two Starlink missions, according to SpaceX.

This is the fourth flight for this Dragon spacecraft, which SpaceX says previously flew CRS-22, CRS-24, and CRS-27 to the space station.

After launch, the Falcon 9’s first stage will land back at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, while the Dragon spacecraft will take an approximately 38-hour flight to the space station where, it is expected to dock around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23.
