Thousands of Queensland public servants are eligible to receive a one-off cash bonus – just in time for Christmas.
The one-off Cost of Living Adjustment aims to help employees keep up with the increased cost of living, thanks to a lucrative wage deal struck with the state government.

Queensland public servants on base wages may receive the cost of living payment of up to 3 per cent if inflation exceeds any salary increase.
“What the agreements did was lock in a cost of living adjustment once inflation reached a certain point, (which) it did,” Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace said.
Teachers, nurses and paramedics are just some of the public servants who will benefit from the payment, which is set to cost the state government an estimated $350 million.
In a sobering twist, an estimated 6000 paramedics have reportedly been overpaid due to a payroll error.
The payroll errors range from $2 to $1700 in extra payments, with the United Workers Union saying any repayments “need to be flexible” as the government tries to “claw back” the extra money.
