Rising stars for the New York Yankees

With spring training set to start in late February, each team is filled with hope for a run at a World Series title and fresh faces are ready to make a name for themselves in the majors. After finishing in fourth place in the American League East in 2023, the New York Yankees will look to improve on their 82-80 record from a year ago.

Here are three rising stars who will look to make an impact for the Yankees in 2024.

Austin Wells, catcher

2023 MLB stats: .229/.257/.486, four home runs and 13 RBI in 19 games played.

After initially struggling during his MLB debut last season, Yankees catcher Austin Wells ended the season on a good note with hits in eight of his last ten games in 2023 including four home runs.

In 2024, the 24-year-old is primed to make a big impact for the 27-time World Series Champions. A career .260 hitter in the minor leagues with 53 home runs, Wells is looking to prove he is more than just a glove behind the plate.

With Yankees catchers ranking near the bottom of the league in virtually all hitting categories including slugging percentage and OPS, Wells taking the next step is important to the team’s success next season.
