Prince Harry breaks silence on King Charles meeting

Prince Harry has arrived in the UK but will not be reuniting with his father King Charles during his visit.

The Duke of Sussex hopes to see his cancer-stricken father soon but the King currently has “a full program” and a father and son meeting could not be arranged, a spokesperson for Harry said.

“It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program,” the spokesperson confirmed to The Mirror.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Harry arrived in the UK on May 7 from California, and is set to attend the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8.

The service marks the 10th anniversary of Harry’s Invictus Games.

Former British Army captain Harry — who served two tours of Afghanistan — founded the Games in 2014 to give injured or sick military personnel and veterans the chance to compete in adaptive sporting events, similar to the Paralympics.

Other major royals are not expected to attend the event.

It has been reported Harry spoke at a one-day summit, called the Invictus Games Foundation Conversation, at Armoury House after his arrival in London.

Harry is said to have taken part in a panel discussion hosted by former BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin, The Mirror reports.

On the day of Harry’s arrival, King Charles was spotted leaving Windsor Castle. The monarch has only recently returned to public duties after stepping back to undergo cancer treatment.

In February Charles announced he had been diagnosed with a form of cancer. Harry returned to the UK to visit him soon after.

Harry is currently travelling without his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their two children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 2.

Meghan has not returned to the UK since the funeral of Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth in September 2022.

Harry is expected to travel to Nigeria with Meghan later in May, HELLO! reports.

The exact details of this trip are yet to be announced.
