A popular Australian beer company has entered voluntary administration after nearly 10 years in business.

The administrator was appointed to “help facilitate a financial restructuring of the business”.

“Post COVID has been a challenging period with bigger players increasingly restricting access to taps and shelf space, combined with broader economic pressures, including increased input costs and taxes,” founder and managing director Mazen Hajjar said.
“However, we are confident that the restructuring will ensure the business is in a stronger position to fight these challenges going forward.”
The company added it remained “committed to maintaining a high standard of service”.
Hawkers Beer is one of Melbourne’s largest manufacturers and distributors of craft beers and was launched in February 2015.
While an administrator has been appointed, the business is expected to continue operating as usual at this time.
“DBA Reconstruction & Advisory as Administrator is supporting the continued operation of Hawkers, so employees and customers should consider it business as usual,” a spokesperson said.
