Police probe after man’s body found on M1 Pacific Motorway in Chinderah, NSW

A body has been found on a major motorway in NSW not far from the NSW/Queensland border.

Police were called to the M1 Pacific Mwy, near Tweed Valley Way, in Chinderah about 5.30am on Monday after a body was found on the road.

“The man is yet to be formally identified,” NSW police said.

An investigation has begun to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

All southbound lanes of the M1 Pacific Mwy were closed for several hours, however, have now reopened.

Motorists have been warned to expect continued traffic delays.

“Traffic is heavy in the area,” LiveTraffic NSW said.

“Allow (for) extra travel time.”

Chinderah is located 10km south of Coolangatta in Queensland.
