Police appeal for assistance after man hit by car on Old Hume Hwy in Mittagong

Police are appealing for help from the public after a pedestrian was hit by a car and critically injured in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales.

The 64-year-old man was hit by a Toyota Yaris on the Old Hume Hwy in Mittagong at about 10am on Monday.

Bystanders performed CPR on the pedestrian, and he managed to regain consciousness before paramedics arrived.

He was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Police say his condition has since deteriorated and he is now critical.

The 65-year-old Toyota driver was not injured.

“Officers from The Hume Police District have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash,” police said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dashcam footage has been urged to contact Mittagong Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
