A popular cake shop and restaurant in Sydney’s eastern suburbs has shut its doors after 10 years.
Much-loved pastry shop Pasticceria Papa closed its Bondi location on Sunday, much to the dismay of customers.
The chain, which also operates stores in Haberfield and Five Dock, made a name for itself through its authentic Italian treats, including gelato and paninis.

Its inner west locations will remain open, with some Bondi Beach staff members moving across to these stores.
“We had a fantastic 10 years at Bondi Beach and are so grateful to the local Bondi community for supporting us over the years,” Papas said.“Closing our Bondi Beach location was not an easy decision for us to make, however our lease has now finished.
“We have decided to close this chapter and are excited for new ventures to come.
“Stay tuned for what Papa’s has in store.”
The business thanked its customers and staff for the “love, support and hard work” provided over the past 10 years.
“Our Haberfield and Five Dock stores will continue to trade as normal and we invite you all to visit us there,” it said.
“From Salvatore Papa and the Pasticceria Papa Team, we thank you.”
Disappointed customers said they were shocked by the news, with many calling for the business to set up shop in new locations including Newcastle, Sutherland Shire and the Northern Beaches.
“We’ll miss you in Bondi. Maybe you’ll open somewhere else in the east,” one said.
Another added: “So very sad, will miss you.”
