A music festival set to be held at a popular venue in Geelong, Victoria has been cancelled just four weeks out from the event.

On Monday, those who had bought tickets were informed the one-day event had been cancelled due to the “current economic climate”.

“In a very disappointing turn of events we have made the difficult decision to cancel Tent Pole 2024,” event organisers said in a statement on the festival’s website.

“This decision has not been made lightly as there is still strong belief in the event and what it can offer, however, the current economic climate coupled with the difficulties associated with establishing a new regional festival has made it impossible for us to proceed.”

Customers were assured they would receive an automatic refund.

The event, which debuted last year, was set to feature 10 musical acts including Dinosaur Jr, Mogwai, Calexico and CIVIC.

Tickets were available from $169.90.

Music fans who had bought tickets to the event shared their disappointment at the news on social media.

“I loved the lineup, so sad to see it not work,” one person said.

“Sucks, was a solid lineup,” another wrote.

Mt Duneed Estate is home to popular concert series a day on the green which has hosted international acts such as Fleetwood Mac, Robbie Williams, Elton John and Sting.

Tent Pole promoter Roundhouse entertainment has been contacted for comment.
