Oppenheimer and Barbie battle again in Hollywood as Oscars 2024 begins live | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

The Oscars, happening tonight, is one of the most sparkling events in showbiz. But they’ve had their share of scandals, leading to some people being banned from The Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, the group behind the awards.

The awards have been going since 1929, but only recently has the Academy started banning people as a form of punishment.

This is usually a last resort and often for actions outside the ceremony.

Many of those banned were shunned due to sexual offences. Interestingly, all the people blacklisted so far are men. Some of them might surprise you.

Will Smith was banned for 10 years after he slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 ceremony, causing a global stir. It’s no shock that convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein is not allowed at the event anymore.

But even the always pleasant Richard Gere got a ban, along with a star from The Godfather sequels.
