Newcastle man in serious condition after masked group allegedly rams his vehicle while fleeing break-in

A masked gang of teens and young adults rammed a Newcastle man while fleeing a break-in and attempted robbery in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 42-year-old man was left with serious leg injuries and was treated by neighbours until paramedics arrived.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The group of four are believed to be aged between 15 and 20 and were dressed in black as they allegedly forced their way into a home on Tumut St Dudley and attempted to steal a motorcycle about 4am.

“They were confronted by neighbours and following a struggle, fled in a vehicle, striking the man,” NSW Police said.

They took off in a turquoise-coloured Volkswagen T-Cross, and police are appealing for anyone who might be able to identify the vehicle or the occupants.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
