National Archives launches UAP records collection

(NewsNation) — Under new provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act, the National Archives has created a collection of records related to UAPs, aka unidentified anomalous phenomena, and UFOs.

The “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Records Collection” will house UAP records submitted by federal agencies. Agencies have until the end of the current fiscal year to “review, identify, and organize each UAP record in its custody for disclosure to the public.”

“For decades, many Americans have been fascinated by objects mysterious and unexplained and it’s long past time they get some answers,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said last July when the bipartisan legislation was introduced.

“The American public has a right to learn about technologies of unknown origins, non-human intelligence, and unexplainable phenomena,” Schumer added.

The National Archives and Records Administration will provide records officers with guidance on the information required to collect and tag the records in the UAP archives.

NARA is asking agencies to start identifying relevant records and begin tagging and transmitting them to the archives.
