Emergency services are responding to a stabbing at a church in Sydney’s west.

About 8pm Monday, police and ambulance crews were called to Wakeley’s Christ The Good Shepherd Church on Box Rd to reports multiple people had been stabbed.

NSW Ambulance said paramedics were treating four patients: two men — one aged in his 50s and the other in his 30s — with multiple lacerations, a man in his 20s with a laceration on his hand and a man in his 60s with a laceration on his arm.

The men suffered non-life threatening injuries.

One of the men injured was reportedly a religious minister.

Video from Monday’s service circulating online appears to show prominent Christian leader, Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, being attacked while delivering his sermon.

The video of the live-streamed service, posted to social media, shows a man dressed in black approaching the bishop before allegedly stabbing him several times.

Shocked parishioners can be heard screaming in horror as several run towards the bishop.

The live feed of the mass then cuts out.

Police confirmed a man has been arrested and is assisting police with enquiries.

“The community is urged to avoid the area,” police said.

“More information will be provided once it becomes available.”

Video from the scene shows a large congregation gathered outside the church.
