Mother reunites with missing son on traffic signal after seven years, found him begging in Pakistan

Following this discovery, the police took swift action, apprehending four members of the beggars’ gang, including three women. An investigation has been initiated to locate their accomplices, according to Dawn’s report.

Mustakeem Khalid, who had been suffering from a mental disorder, vanished in 2016 due to the effects of typhoid fever. His mother, Shaheen Akhtar, had previously filed a missing person report with the Civil Lines police, stating that her son, often leaving home due to depression, had not returned since 2016.

The reunion unfolded when Shaheen Akhtar, unaware of her son’s whereabouts, spotted him begging with a gang at Tahli Mohri Chowk. The gang, comprising three women and two men, was exploiting Mustakeem’s disability to force him to beg.

Upon recognizing her son, Shaheen Akhtar embraced him, but the gang members accompanying him assaulted and abused her. The FIR filed indicated that Mustakeem Khalid had been abducted and incapacitated by the gang for begging.

A police spokesman confirmed the arrest of gang leader Wahid, along with three women, and efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining culprits. Wahid, the real brother of detained members Maryam and Sabina, was later arrested. Raids are ongoing to capture the other gang members, as reported by Dawn.
