This could lead to a loss of engine power and/or cause the car’s engine to stall.

“A loss of motive power or engine stalling whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the department said.

Owners of the impacted Kia models have been urged to “immediately” contact a Kia dealer to schedule an appointment to fix the problem.

The issue will be fixed free of charge.
