If you’re rocking an Xbox Series X|S and love a bit of Call of Duty, then Microsoft’s latest announcement will be music to your ears. It’s the announcement Xbox users have been waiting for, as Microsoft confirms the date and time of its summer games showcase. The Xbox Games Showcase will take place at 6pm BST UK time on the afternoon of Sunday, June 9. Broadcast live on YouTube and other social media platforms, the Xbox Games Showcase will feature a boatload of announcements for upcoming Xbox exclusives, as well as news about big third-party titles launching in 2024 and beyond. Essentially, it’s when Xbox users find out what they’ll be playing this Christmas, and what they can look forward to in 2025. With more first-party games than ever, fans can expect the Xbox experience to get a whole lot better when the new games begin to launch. If that wasn’t exciting enough, Microsoft has also announced plans to hold a Direct conference immediately following the event, which is believed to revolve around this year’s Call of Duty release.
The news was announced by Microsoft on X, alongside a teaser for the mysterious game at the heart of the Direct conference.
“We’re going to be talking about games of course,” reads a Microsoft tweet. “Tune in to the Xbox Games Showcase followed by [REDACTED] Direct on Sunday, June 9 @ 10am PT.”
As you can see from the post below, the image is partly blacked out for the game believed to be Call of Duty.
Fans have since discovered evidence that the Call of Duty game will be a new entry in the Black Ops series.
The internal codename for the upcoming Call of Duty is Cerberus, which makes sense given the picture of the three-headed beast.
A recent report suggests the 2024 Call of Duty will launch in late October, although we won’t know for sure until the June Direct.
As for the Xbox Games Showcase, fans can expect to find out more about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which is tipped to launch in December.
With Bethesda recently revealing more about Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion, fans can expect a true gameplay reveal during the Xbox Games Showcase.
With Xbox games starting to launch on other platforms, don’t be surprised if Microsoft announces Starfield for PS5.
Other games tipped to appear at the Xbox Games Showcase include Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed and a new entry in the Gears of War series.
