“We have a lot of skilled players out there, but I think we have to keep it simple and get pucks toward the net, get pucks laying around the crease, or shots from all sorts of angles with guys around the net,” Marner said. “For me, it’s just making sure when I get in there, is not trying to complicate things. Be useful, helpful, try to find ways to get the puck in my hands and contribute.”

Mitch Marner returning for Maple Leafs, but not on a line with Auston Matthews
Marner was back on the No. 1 power-play unit with Auston Matthews, John Tavares, William Nylander and Morgan Rielly at practice on Friday.
The Leafs have to get the power play, still seventh in the NHL at 24.4% before games on Friday, into a rhythm before the playoffs begin.
“It’s huge,” Nylander said. “It will win you games (in the post-season) and maybe will lose you games.”
