Maple Leafs’ Matthews participates in morning skate, Game 7 status undetermined

Toronto Maple Leafs star centre Auston Matthews‘ status for Game 7 against the Boston Bruins remains undetermined.

Matthews took part in the team’s morning skate but Sheldon Keefe would not confirm if he will play in the team’s must-win game.

Bobby McMann, who has not taken part in a morning skate at this point in the series, was also on the ice with his teammates but is still not ready to return to the lineup, Keefe said. McMann has been sidelined with a lower-body injury that he suffered against the Detroit Red Wings back on April 13.

Matthews was not available for Game 6 after he took to the ice to skate and do puck drills but did not remain with the team.

The 26-year-old was pulled from Game 4 in the second intermission and did not play Game 5 as he recovers from an undisclosed illness and/or a mystery injury.

The Maple Leafs have won both games that Matthews has missed to force a Game 7.

The Maple Leafs will take on the Bruins in Game 7 with the winner moving on to play the Florida Panthers. Watch all the action on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, starting at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
