Man fighting for life after serious crash in Ryde, Sydney

A man is fighting for life following a serious crash between a motorcycle and car in Sydney’s northwest.

The motorcyclist collided with a car on Victoria Rd at St Annes St, Ryde about 11.30am Thursday.

Bystanders provided CPR before firefighters and paramedics arrived, Fire and Rescue NSW superintendent Adam Dewberry said.

He was treated by the NSW Ambulance trauma team, who stabilised the man on the side of the road.

“That rider has since been transferred to hospital in what appears to an extremely critical condition,” Dewberry said.

All westbound lanes of Victoria Rd have been closed, with one city-bound lane also shut, as of 12.30pm.

Traffic is heavy in both directions in the area.

Motorists are urged to use an alternative route, allow extra travel time and follow the directions of emergency services.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
