Man dies taking selfies at Bombo Headland near Kiama in NSW

A man has died after being swept into the ocean while taking selfies at a NSW beach.

The 41-year-old man was taking selfies with two other men on a rock ledge at Bombo Headland near Kiama about 3pm on Sunday, as reported by The Illawarra Mercury.

A wave swept the group out into the water, with two men finding their way to safety.

NSW Police, NSW Ambulance and Surf Life Saving responded to the incident, finding the third man in the water.

Paramedics performed CPR on the man but he could not be revived.

The man was from Bangladesh and had only been in Australia a few weeks, The Mercury said.

”They were apparently taking photos of each other on the rocks when a large wave came and got them,” Surf Life Saving South Coast branch president Stephen Jones told The Mercury.

”He was under the water when one of our lifesavers pulled him up and took him to Bombo Beach.”
