In a video posted to her Instagram page on Friday morning, Perry is seen entering the penguin enclosure — but not before she was on the receiving end of their “defence alarm”.
“Visited Pesto last night. he told me who will win in the @afl grand final tomorrow but my lips are sealed 🤐,” she captioned the clip.
Perry is seen in her large puffer watching the penguins from outside the enclosure before being brought in to wash her hands ahead of the big meeting.
She is then given some bubbles, which she is told are Pesto’s favourite.
Walking into the enclosure, the singer remarks, “Hi guys!” before the group of penguins start their “defence alarm”.
“OK, I hear you,” she says in response.
Squatting down next to Pesto, she jokingly asks for a fist bump before requesting of the penguin: “Can you wish me luck for Saturday? It’s a pretty big gig!”

The meeting came a few days after entertainment reporter Peter Ford told The Morning Show that Perry was keen to meet the famous bird.
“One of the things that she said after she came off the Sunrise interview was that the thing she wants to do while she’s in Melbourne is meet Pesto the penguin,” Ford said on Wednesday.
“I don’t know if you’re up with Pesto the penguin but he lives at the aquarium.
“Pesto is the big king-sized penguin who’s become a huge global sensation online — and she’s obviously right up with him,” Ford went on.
“She said I want to kiss him while I’m here in Melbourne.”
Pictures of Pesto — who is 90cm tall — towering over his parents have gone viral online.
The American superstar’s revelation came after she announced she would bring her Lifetimes tour to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth in June, 2025.
The tour is in support of her new album, 143, which signals a reinvention for the pop star.
Appearing live on Sunrise on Wednesday, Perry said: “I am super keen to announce The Lifetimes tour, and I’m rolling out dates first in Australia.
“It’s been a long time, but I feel like I’m totally ready for it. It’s a high energy sing-along with all the songs that everybody knows and more.”

The American singer went on to talk about how she still gets butterflies before hitting the stage.
