Justin and Hailey Bieber respond after fans asked to ‘say a prayer’ for them

Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey have made a pointed move after Hailey’s dad, actor Stephen Baldwin, called on fans to “say a prayer” for the couple.

Baldwin reposted a message from an evangelical Christian minister, Victor Marx, who had asked his followers to pray for the celebrity couple — prompting fans to wonder whether something had happened to the pair.

Some speculated their marriage was in trouble, or that the Biebers were suffering in some way or in some kind of trouble.

Baldwin, a devout Christian, shared a video of Bieber singing, with the following message superimposed over the top.

“Christians please, when you think of Justin & Hailey, take a moment to offer a little prayer for them to have wisdom, protection, and draw close to the Lord.”

Marx had also expressed concern for the Biebers’ “spiritual” welfare in a message on his own Instagram page.

“There are special challenges that folks in high visibility positions face and also the enemy doesn’t want them to draw closer to Jesus,” Marx wrote.

“So often regardless of the material things or the accolades they often face spiritual warfare that intense and seeks to ship-wreck their faith, marriage and life in general.”

“What happened?” one follower wrote beneath the post.

“Are they okay?”

The Biebers have responded to Baldwin’s post with a very deliberate act — going to church.

Hours after Baldwin’s post, the couple were seen looking somewhat solemn as they went to a late-night service at Churchome Church in Los Angeles.

Justin, sporting a beard and moustache, was covered up in a grey hoodie and black scarf, while Hailey donned dark glasses and a yellow Argyle print sweater.

The pair were last spotted in public together on February 11 at the Super Bowl finals in Las Vegas.

Pictures there showed them looking somewhat bored and disengaged, prompting rumours their relationship was in trouble.

But on Valentine’s Day, Hailey Bieber shared on Instagram a series of snaps of her and her husband looking loved-up.

In one photo, Justin cuddled Hailey as they looked out over the ocean, while in another the pair shared a kiss.

On the same day, Bieber shared a somewhat less romantic image of him and Hailey hanging out with Aussie musician The Kid Laroi and rumoured girlfriend, Canadian pop star Tate McRae.

The Biebers married in 2018 after having reconnected through their mutual attendance at Hillsong Church.

However, they severed ties with Hillsong after high-profile married pastor Carl Lentz was thrown out of the church for having an affair.

In 2021, Justin Bieber said he was no longer affiliated with Hillsong and had joined Churchome.

In a revealing 2021 interview with GQ, Bieber — who rose to fame when he was only 15 — opened up on the complex relationship between his prior drug abuse, his marriage and his Christianity.

“I have a wife who I adore, who I feel comforted by. I feel safe,” he said.

“I feel like my relationship with God is wonderful.

“And I have this outpouring of love that I want to be able to share with people, you know?”

But it hadn’t always been so good, he admitted.

“It was like I had all this success and it was still like: I’m still sad, and I’m still in pain,” he revealed.

“And I still have these unresolved issues.

“And I thought all the success was going to make everything good.

“And so for me, the drugs were a numbing agent to just continue to get through.”
