Just when I thought I had firmly decided to grow my hair out long, Julianne Hough goes ahead and changes my plans entirely. Her adorable new micro bob has me questioning everything I thought I wanted from my hair in 2024.
We’ve all been there. You’re bored with your look and open to a big, big change — and you need it ASAP. The Dancing with the Stars host debuted a chin-skimming French bob at the Golden Globes, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. Prior to the chop, her hair was about mid-back length. But Hough was clearly looking for a new look to welcome in the new year, so she called up her go-to stylist, Riwana Capri, and scheduled a cut.
And oh, what a cut they chose! “[Hough] has been wanting to do a chop for a while now, and there is no better time than the new year!” Capri wrote on Instagram alongside a video of the process. “She wanted chic, Parisian French vibes and that’s exactly what I gave her!” After cutting length and saying “See ya!” to inches of hair, Capri used clippers to shape that ultra-precise line. The triple threat’s hair now hit just below her ear, gently cupping her jawline. Hough’s blonde also got a boost, with Capri using foils to achieve a buttery, glowy pale hue. “Keeping it short and sweet,” Hough wrote of her new look, and she’s 100% correct.
