Joe Rogan is letting Canadians know there’s only one choice in the next federal election — Pierre Poilievre.

During a special broadcast of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast that aired during UFC 297 in Toronto last Saturday, Rogan reacted to footage of the crowd inside Scotiabank Arena chanting “F*** Trudeau!”

“They’re yelling ‘F*** Trudeau’,” Rogan exclaimed.

The anti-Trudeau chants came after former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland sparred with a reporter during a pre-fight press conference and accused them of voting for the Liberals.

“Canada, get your s*** together! Come back. Come back to what you used to be,” Rogan urged.

The popular podcaster then made his endorsement for Canada’s next prime minister. “That Pierre Poilievre guy, however you say his name, he makes sense,” Rogan said.

Rogan and his guests Brendan Schaub, Joey Diaz, and Eddie Bravo went on to resurrect a long-standing rumour that Trudeau is the son of Fidel Castro.

“He’s also Fidel Castro’s kid. I’m a big conspiracy guy,” former MMA fighter Schaub said.

“It’s not that crazy,” Bravo replied.

“He looks a lot like Castro,” Rogan acknowledged, before adding, “Here’s the thing, realistically, I’ve looked at this. He also looks like his dad (the late Pierre Elliott Trudeau). His dad looks like Castro. His dad is very similar in facial structure to Castro.”

As Schaub and Bravo said Trudeau’s mom knew Castro and there were pictures of the Cuban leader holding the prime minister as a child, Rogan called it a “fun theory.”

“This could all be solved with a very simple DNA test, which I would do if someone was accusing my dad of being Castro,” Rogan said. “If someone said, ‘Your grandfather was (Italian dictator Benito) Mussolini,’ I’d be like, ‘No, what are you talking about?’ … I’d have to find out.”

In 2022, Rogan told comedian Sam Tripoli that the similarities between Trudeau and Castro were “wild.”

“Let’s Google, look at the two of them together,” Rogan began. “There’s multiple photos. That’s wild. That’s f***ing wild,” he continued as he looked through the images. “Oh my God, look at the top one … that is wild … Bro, you need a 23andMe right away, sir. It’s wild how close he looks … If I was the father, I’d be f***ing suspicious as s***.”

But when Rogan saw pics of dad Pierre he acknowledged the resemblance.

“He looks like his real dad, too. He looks a lot like his real dad,” Rogan added. “OK, I give up. It’s just a coincidence. Look at the nose, the shape … he looks a lot like his dad. It’s just fun.”

“Hey man, we’re just having fun,” Tripoli said.

The rumour was first circulated when Castro’s son, Fidel Angel Castro Diaz-Balart, also known as “Fidelito,” committed suicide in 2018. Several sites, the Associated Press noted, reported that Fidelito left a goodbye note that referenced Trudeau as his half-brother.

The theory that Castro was Trudeau’s dad was also shared after the communist leader’s death in 2016.

The Canadian government denied the reports and AP’s fact-check revealed that it was more than four years after Justin’s birth that his mother Margaret made her much-publicized first trip to Cuba and met Fidel.

Ever since Trudeau cracked down on the Freedom Convoy in early 2022, Rogan has been a frequent critic of the prime minister, going so far as to say he wouldn’t travel to the country while he was in power.

On an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience last month with YouTuber Derek from More Plates More Dates, Rogan said he wouldn’t cross the border until there’s “an overhaul of government.”

“I don’t go up there anymore,” Rogan said. “What they’ve done up there, what they did with the trucker rally and what Trudeau is doing with guns and what they’re trying to clamp down on censorship on the Internet. That guy can eat s***. That place needs 100% an overhaul of government. They’re sliding down that dangerous road of communism. It scares the s*** out of me.”

Rogan then launched into a tirade aimed at Trudeau’s response to 2022’s Freedom Convoy.

“What they did with the truckers, for example, the way Trudeau just openly labelled them as racist and misogynist. And then when people were donating to this trucker movement, when they were trying to have this protest, they closed down people’s bank accounts who donated. I mean, that is third world country s***. The fact they think they can do that in Canada is insane.”

Rogan went on to hit out at the government’s Online News Act, which requires Google and Meta to fork over hundreds of millions to Canadian news providers (Google inked a $100 million deal; Meta did not and as a result news articles aren’t visible or shareable on its social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram).

“Have you seen the ban of news in Canada?” Derek asked. “If you’re located in Canada, you can’t access news outlets because the social media platforms featuring the news outlets refuse to pay Canada … it’ll literally say, ‘Can’t view. Unavailable in Canada.’”

“That’s like China,” Rogan responded incredulously. “It’s literally what they do in foreign countries that are run by dictators.”

Last summer, Rogan revealed at one point he might have moved to Canada, but said Trudeau’s leadership scared him off.

“Canada’s f***ing falling apart. All the s*** they did during COVID was just the total wrong direction,” he said on an episode of his podcast featuring Post Malone.

Recent polls have Trudeau trailing Poilievre’s Conservatives badly, indicating he’s headed for election defeat. But whether it is ego or blind optimism, he has yet to indicate he’ll step aside to try and save the Liberal Party from a defeat of truly historic proportions.
