Joe Rogan begs Canada to ditch Trudeau: ‘Gluttons for punishment’

A federal election isn’t scheduled to happen until October 2025, but Joe Rogan is already warning Canadians: a vote for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will quicken the country’s continued slide.

The cost of food was up last fall despite the Industry Minister’s claim that prices would “stabilize” for Canadians. In Toronto, prospective home buyers with a median annual income of $91,858 will have to save for more than 25 years for a down payment to buy a house.

Trudeau has become such a polarizing leader, that last month his security detail had to step in to usher him away after he was confronted by a group of protesters.

“If he gets elected again, you guys are gluttons for punishment,” Rogan said during a chat with guest Tom Green on a recent episode of his Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “I love Canadians, I just hate their government. Pierre Poilievre … that guy makes so much more sense. He’s so common sense, calling out all the nonsense that’s been done under this administration, which has been so sad to watch.”

Green, who moved back to Ontario recently after living in Los Angeles for 20 years, gave Rogan a glimpse of what life is like inside Canada right now amid a growing political divide.

“This is so common in Canada … driving around everywhere in the country, in the city, everywhere, people in pickup trucks [have] ‘F*** Trudeau’ flags … It says ‘F*** Trudeau.’… Canada flag on it. People are mad … he might not get elected the next time,” Green said.

“I hope he doesn’t,” Rogan replied.

But Green said that the division in Canada isn’t unlike what is happening in the United States as presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump gets ready for a rematch against incumbent Joe Biden this November.

“You’ve got Biden as the president now … it’s the same thing, half the country hates the party in power and they want to get him out. As a proud Canadian, I wanted to (make) the distinction that Canada’s like (America). Everybody’s arguing about issues, important issues, it’s being reinforced through these algorithms. People get mad about it … I sometimes (think), wouldn’t it be interesting if Pierre Poilievre won the next election because all of a sudden we’d have a conservative government up there. Then, let’s say Biden wins down here, you have a conservative government up there, and Tucker Carlson will be going up to Canada all of a sudden talking about how great we are. It can all turn on a dime.”

Rogan and Green’s exchange racked up thousands of views on social media and generated plenty of comments on Reddit, with some criticizing the podcaster for his sudden embrace of Poilievre.

“I guarantee Joe hasn’t seen more than 10 mins of Pierre Poilievre speaking. He probably saw a few clips of him dunking on Trudeau and started swooning,” one person wrote. “Trudeau has lost the country’s approval, and Poilievre made a career out of speaking for Trudeau’s haters. Nothing about Poilievre’s personal campaign is why Joe likes him, it’s entirely because he stands as an anti-Trudeau figure.”

“Why would Joe care about the PM of Canada other than wanting right wing figures in charge everywhere? … He has an agenda now,” a second added.

Rogan has been critical of Trudeau for years, largely stemming from the prime minister’s handling of the trucker protest in the nation’s capital in 2022.

During a special broadcast of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast that aired during UFC 297 in Toronto last month, Rogan reacted to footage of the crowd inside Scotiabank Arena chanting “F*** Trudeau!”

“They’re yelling ‘F*** Trudeau’,” Rogan exclaimed.

The anti-Trudeau chants came after former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland sparred with a reporter during a pre-fight press conference and accused them of voting for the Liberals.

“Canada, get your s*** together! Come back. Come back to what you used to be,” Rogan urged.

The popular podcaster then made his endorsement for Canada’s next prime minister. “That Pierre Poilievre guy, however you say his name, he makes sense,” Rogan said.

On an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience in December with YouTuber Derek from More Plates More Dates, Rogan said he wouldn’t cross the border until there’s “an overhaul of government.”

“I don’t go up there anymore,” Rogan said. “What they’ve done up there, what they did with the trucker rally and what Trudeau is doing with guns and what they’re trying to clamp down on censorship on the Internet. That guy can eat s***. That place needs 100% an overhaul of government. They’re sliding down that dangerous road of communism. It scares the s*** out of me.”

Last summer, Rogan revealed at one point he might have moved north of the border, but said Trudeau’s leadership scared him off.

“Canada’s f***ing falling apart. All the s*** they did during COVID was just the total wrong direction,” he said on an episode of his podcast featuring Post Malone.

Recent polling shows a Liberal government under Trudeau heading for a massive defeat. According to the Sun’s Warren Kinsella, “a couple of models conjured up in the past week show the Conservatives are on the cusp of the largest majority in Canadian history.”

But whether it is ego, blind optimism or the fanciful notion that he can win next year, Trudeau has yet to indicate he’ll step aside to try and save the Liberal Party from a defeat of truly historic proportions.
