'Jeopardy!' exec reveals why Mayim Bialik was let go as show host

(WJW) – The executive producer of “Jeopardy!” recently spoke out after “The Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik was removed as one of the game show hosts, according to reports.

Back in December, Bialik confirmed in an Instagram post that she would no longer be the host of “Jeopardy!” alongside Ken Jennings.

Executive Producer Michael Davies spoke on the departure during an “Unscripted Storytellers” panel of the Television Critics Association’s press tour, saying the decision came from wanting more “consistency” in the show, according to People.

“Mayim was left hosting the primetime versions; I brought in Ken to guest-host once Mayim had her schedule on her Fox sitcom,” Davies said during the panel. “Over the past two-and-a-half seasons, what we’ve heard from a lot of television stations and other interested parties is that they wanted more consistency.”

He went on to say that they wanted a single host and that “Ken really won the job.”

However, Davies also said Bialik could continue working with the show in the future and “conversations are ongoing,” according to People.

“Mayim is a superb host,” Davies said in the panel. “We hope to keep working with her on primetime versions and other spinoffs.”

Bialik shared the following statement on Instagram back in December:

As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news. Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy! I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family. For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz Show, thank you. 🙏

Jennings and Bialik were announced as the permanent hosts of Jeopardy! in 2022 after the show spent years rotating celebrity hosts after Alex Trebek’s death in 2020.
