Now, the Sydney mum-of-three has revealed the controversial list of the top contenders she would have picked if she and husband Ben Azar didn’t name their youngest child Soul.
“These are all my baby names… You guys are going to hate them but I’m going to tell you anyway,” she said.
“My top name if she wasn’t going to be called Soul, I wanted her to be Cherub and Ben wanted her to be Dingo if she was a boy.
“I was like, ‘We’re not calling her Dingo‘ and he said, ‘Well we’re not calling her Cherub.’ He wanted Dingo to go with Bambi.”
Indy, who gave birth to Soul Valerie in December 2023, said her top pick for a boy was Hawk, “like the bird”, while Ben preferred Dove.
“Ben really loved Dove but I couldn’t get past the soap brand,” she said.
“The other boys names that I loved — and I was hoping to have twin boys — they were going to be Alpha and Junior.
“But I didn’t get twins and I didn’t get boys so that was that.”
Other unique names on her list included Heart, Hazy, Halo and Shiloh.
“I just love Shiloh so much but it didn’t really match the other kids names,” she said.
“If I was going to have a twin girl and a boy … I wanted Hawk and Halo — it’s like a girl/boy combo.
“But yes, I didn’t get twins, I didn’t get boys, so there we have it — Navy, Bambi and Soul.”
She later joked: “Hopefully I get quadruplets next time so I can use all these baby names, otherwise I’m gonna buy a fish tank and name the fish these names.”
Her video has been viewed more than 1.2 million times, with many divided over her baby name options.
“Are you naming humans that will be adults one day? Or kittens?” one said bluntly, to which Indy cheekily responded: “Puppies actually. They’re cuter.”
Another suggested: “Alpha and Junior could have been a bit competitive for boys, ‘I’m bigger/better, you’re smaller/not as good.’ Hawk is nice. I know a boy named Soul.”
One added: “Shiloh has been my girls name forever! So in a way I’m glad you didn’t (use that) because then it would set off a trend and become more popular.”
