‘I’m in my 60s but look 20 years younger – how to improve your posture in 3 steps’

We all know how important exercise is for staying healthy. Regular physical activity is known to slash your risk for many health issues and diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and even cancer.

Many people also workout for aesthetic reasons, to keep their bodies looking the way they want. As we get older it can be more difficult to do so, as we have less energy.

But one fitness guru has shown that age doesn’t have to matter. Fitness and lifestyle influencer Fiona Lambert shared how she manages to look younger than her 60 years.

Via social media platform TikTok, she shared a strength-training routine she does regularly to keep a good posture.

This involves three simple exercises that can be easily performed at home.

For the first she used a resistance band which she held behind her head stretched to the full width of her arms.

Fiona then brought it up over her head to her front and lowered it.

She said: “Using a resistance band lift and stretch over your head.

“Keep your arms straight. You should feel your shoulder blades pinch together.”

She repeated this process going back and forth up over her head several times while keeping the arms straight.

For the next step she rotated her shoulders.

“Next rotate your shoulders backwards,” she said. “Keep your arms straight.”

She brought the shoulders up high, almost to her ears, when rotating them.

As part of the final step she leant her back against a wall with the backs of her arms also touching the wall, while her elbows made right angles.

She brought her hands up above head so they touched and back down again.

“Lastly, find yourself a wall,” Fiona said. “Keeping your hands and elbows close to the wall, slide down until your elbows are at 90 degrees. Then back up.”
