The beloved keyboard player from iconic rock group Electric Light Orchestra has died, aged 76.
Richard Tandy’s death was announced by the band’s frontman Jeff Lynne in a tribute to his “dear friend”.
Lynne wrote on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of my long-time collaborator and dear friend, Richard Tandy.

“He was a remarkable musician and friend and I’ll cherish the lifetime of memories we had together.
“Sending all my love to Sheila and the Tandy family.”
No cause has been given for his death.
Tandy had been with the band for more than 50 years, having joined in 1972 as the bassist before becoming the group’s keyboard player.
Just last month, ELO announced a farewell tour to fans, promising to play all their greatest hits including Mr Blue Sky over 27 shows in America from August 27. It’s not yet known if that tour will go ahead.
