Hugh Jackman and his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness have surprised with the release of their first joint ‘statement’ since announcing their split in September.
The former couple has issued the message to remember their friend, the late Australian chef and restaurateur Bill Granger, who died on Christmas Day aged 54.
The Hollywood actor took to his Instagram stories on Wednesday to share the tribute, choosing to sign off the words from both himself and Furness.

“We are devastated to hear the news of Bill’s passing,” the Greatest Showman actor began.
“His talent, his joie de vivre, the way he brought people together, and his commitment to family were inspiring.
“We will miss his friendship most of all.
“Our love goes out to Natalie and their three incredible daughters Edie, Ines and Bunny.
“Rest in peace, Deb & Hugh.”
The message marks the first joint communication from the former couple since they announced in September 2023 that they had split after 27 years of marriage.
Granger, who rose to prominence as a chef after opening his Sydney restaurant, bills, had shared infrequent updates on his Instagram account about Jackman and Furness.
Those updates included one from May 2017 of Jackman’s visit to one of his bills restaurants in Japan.
“The secret ingredient @thehughjackman x,” he captioned the post of the actor flipping one of the chef’s famous ricotta hotcakes in the kitchen.
Granger died “peacefully” in hospital on December 25, according to his family’s post on his Instagram account.
No cause of death has been confirmed.
When Jackman and Furness split, they told People they would make no further statement about the separation.
The couple went on to unfollow one another on their social media accounts.
