If you want to keep your fresh produce lasting longer, you’ll want to know about this lettuce hack.
A South Korean cook, who now lives in the US, has revealed how he manages to keep his lettuce fresh for more than 60 days.

Known as “Mr Rice” on social media, the cook has shown how he stores the leafy greens in his fridge — purportedly keeping them crisp for more than two months.
“Believe it or not, this lettuce is more than 60 days old,” he said in a now-viral video, as he pulled a lettuce from a plastic bag.
Showing his 1.5 million followers how to store an iceberg lettuce, Mr Rice slices the tip of the stem off the lettuce, keeping the head intact.
Next, he soaks a sheet of paper towel with alcohol and then covers the stem with it.
“Any kind of drinking liquor (works), but if you don’t have alcohol, you can use cold water,” he explained, adding that cold water keeps lettuce fresh for only a few days.
Alcohol works better, he says, as it prevents the lettuce from rotting.
“You stick (the soaked paper towel) right there on the stem,” he said.
Using a plastic bag from the supermarket fruit and vegetable aisle, he places the lettuce, along with the soaked paper towel, inside.
Mr Rice then seals the bag using a “homemade zipper”.
He constructs the “zipper” from the top section of a plastic drinking bottle, which he has previously cut off, and the drink bottle’s lid.

“This will last you more than 60 days,” he said.
Mr Rice says he adds a few drops of alcohol to the existing paper towel every five to six days to ensure the lettuce stays fresh for longer.
His video received more than 1.7 million views, with people praising his hack.
“Fabulous,” said one, while another added: “This is genius.”
“You’re so smart, thanks for sharing this knowledge,” added a third.
Many loved the way he used an old water bottle to seal the lettuce tightly in the bag, while others wondered how the trick worked.
“I’m curious why the bottle lid closure is more advantageous than just twisting closed or using a bread bag twist?” one said, to which another replied: “The cap seals better, ensuring no air gets in.”
Beauty mogul Jaclyn Hill has previously shared a life-changing hack to keep avocados from going brown.
The 33-year-old YouTube star prepares a week’s worth of smashed avocado so she can enjoy it with toast all week round — without having to waste time creating breakfast from scratch every day.
“This avocado hack is going to change your life,” she said.
To make her mixture, she simply smashes two whole avocados with coriander, garlic and lemon — seasoned with salt and pepper.
“Now you’re going to proceed to smash your avocado and make it however you like it,” she said.
“You can make guacamole… Personally I like to make (smashed) avocado that’s ready for avocado toast because this is going to stay good for the next five to six days.”
To keep the avocado mixture fresh in the fridge, she uses a paper towel, lime and an airtight glass storage container.
“You can totally keep it in a bowl or put it into a glass container — have it ready to go in the fridge,” she said.
“This is where the trick comes in. You need a paper towel and a lime — that’s it.
“I cut the paper towel into a perfect square. I’m going to push the paper towel up against the edge so there’s basically no air pockets.”
