Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney looks unrecognisable in shocking photo

A shocking photo of TV actor Rob McElhenney has stunned fans.

The star of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Welcome To Wrexham marked the end of 2023 by sharing an image from earlier in the year of himself with a disfigured and swollen face.

He captioned it: “Aside from that slight allergic reaction to the nuts, 2023 was one of the best years of my life. Thank you to the people and places that made it possible. My life is full of love and joy because of you. ❤️ So excited for 2024. I’ll stay away from the nuts.”

Some fans were unsure if the photo was real or if it was part of the show.

Others were quick to clarify that the alarming photo was a behind-the-scenes moment from the season 16 premiere of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

During the episode, Mac (played by McElhenney) suffered an allergic reaction to peanuts and his face swelled up.

One fan wrote: “I can’t tell if that’s legit or makeup!”

Another fan said: “Haha! Makeup from the show! You can see it on the nose!”

Even actress Mindy Kaling was confused and posted: “Rob, this made me almost drop my phone. My son screamed!”

Accomplished actor McElhenney has found a new fan-base from the documentary series Welcome To Wrexham.

The actor teamed up with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds to buy struggling soccer team Wrexham AFC in 2020.

The pair have filmed two documentary-style seasons about their time as club owners as they battle to try to save the fortunes of the struggling team.

Last year, the team was finally promoted to the fourth tier of the English soccer league, but there is still a long way to go to make it to the Premier League.
